Message: My MPG is whatever i want. If i want 18, i drive to get 18. If i want to get 22 plus i get 22 plus. This is basically the result of how you manage your right foot, the rpm of your engine and proper care of everything on your truck. Check 3 or 4 pages back, under gas mileage sugestions for more details. My truck is a club cab 4.7, 2 wheel drive, 3.92 LSD rear end, K&N FIPK, true 68mm Fastman TB, H.O. intake and cams, Gibson headers and 3 inches single from the cat back, 180* T stat, jet stage 2 chip, no clutch fan, all synthetic fluids and 93 octanes gas.

Message: JES, I gotta call BS on your numbers. I have the EXACT same set up as you (3.92's and all). Just did a 600 mile all freeway drive at 72mph, avg =16.2 mpg. I don't believe 21 is possible.
If you're located near me, I'll pay for gas just to watch your MPG. I'm in Washington state by the way.
The only difference between our rigs is that mine is an '04. Our city MPG jibes but... come on... are you stretching the truth just a tad on the hwy mileage?
The last leg of my trip was 300 miles @ 18.5 gal which is 16.2mpg. My overhead console even gave me 16.2mpg.

Message: Hmmm, I re-read my above posting and it sounds a bit harsh. That was not the intent.
I simply want to know how I can get 21mpg with my Dak. Input on driving style etc. My 16.2 was with cruise set at 72mph and an elevation rise of 2500 ft over 300 miles. Keep in mind that the round trip (600 miles total) negates the elevation rise as the net sum is zero.

Message: Hurl ... don't worry about the harshness ... it's only the internet. :o)
I'm not sure what's up with the discrepancy in MPG. My last trip was from Pittsburgh to Cleveland. Cruise was set on 70 mph on the freeway -- very little traffic and not much in the way of elevation changes. The overhead read 21.2. When I figured it out manually, it was 20.7. This was with four people in the truck -- myself (about 175 lbs) and three girls (about 110 each). I think the only other thing that may affect mileage that I didn't mention before could be the Redline in the Diffs, but I wouldn't think that would have too much of an impact. And, as far as driving style, the girls make me drive like a grandma, because my "big noisy truck" scares them when I drive it like I stole it (which results in a marked decrease in MPG).
Also, this truck has been meticulously maintained -- it has about 40k miles on it and I've changed the plugs twice (with the factory copper core type), air filter three times with a std Fram, tranny and x-fer case with the stealership Mopar fluid @ 30k miles, and oil changes every 3,000 miles with dino oil and a NAPA Gold filter. Oh, also something that may affect mileage -- I keep my rear tire pressure at 40 psi and my front at 38 psi.
Hope some of this helps.
Take care,

Message: Oh ... and also .. a bit more detail on the MagnaFlow cat-back. It isn't a factory cat-back, it's custom. I got the smaller flo-thru muffler with a single in and dual out and had a shop put two 2.5" tailpipes out the stock location.
