Bob DakotaEnthusiast 1/11/2001 21:10:41 | RE: Spare has to go. IP: Logged Message: Chris I mounted mine in the bed, made a mounting bracket for the floor.I did the same for my Ranger.I never liked the idea of having to get a dirty grimy rusty old rim and tire in the rain or snow from the bottom of my truck at night.I didn't take any parts of from the under side, so I could put it back under side and haul stuff if I wanted to.You will have room for twice pipes. chris GenIII 1/12/2001 09:21:27 | RE: Spare has to go. IP: Logged Message: Is the bracket removable??I thought about doing something like that, but I use my bed a lot...it would have to be easily removable.... Chris DeCrease 97 Dak 3.9 Sport 5-sp 3"Body Lift 33"BFG TA ko's |
Bob DakotaEnthusiast 1/12/2001 14:58:43 | RE: Spare has to go. IP: Logged Message: Chris it has two nuts and bolts holding the top bracket to the underside plate. If you would look at most spare tires, and see how they bolt in a car trunk...you can see what I mean.I took a peace of 1/4+ flat steel by 6ins.long x 1 1/2 wide...than I cut a peace of the same stock 1 1/2 ins.long, drilled a hole the size of the rod, in the center,(the rod that the wing nut goes on)than I welded that to the 6ins.plate.I used the rod from a Cherokee and wing nut.If I wanted to take the mounting plate I could...its not really in the way.I hope you under stand what I said, because I didn't under stand what the hell I said. chris GenIII 1/12/2001 15:03:06 | RE: Spare has to go. IP: Logged Message: yea I think I understand..I turned the exit pipes on my exhaust today so I think the tire will fit back in its original position...only problem with that is the crank on it is so tight, I had to use a pipe wrench on it just to get the tire off......anyone know if these have been a problem??
