john Unregistered 1/02/2001 21:57:45 | RE: Rear end nose IP: Logged Message: I hear from other folks that have that happen it is usually due to the factory not putting in the limited slip diff. additive for the rear end!!! You might want to take it to the dearler and have them check it or replace the fluid and make sure they put in the additive!!!! |

The person who installed my 3.90 posi suggested me using this (along with the lsd additive). I live in a cold weather area and no problems to date. |

Kevin in KC Gen II 1/07/2001 02:09:52 | RE: Rear end nose IP: Logged Message: I have a 93 and mine made a horrible R/E noise on accel. I took the rear end apart, replaced all the bearings(everything looked ok) & made sure it was set up right when put back together. The noise on accel is gone but now I have a whine when coasting. Any suggestions?? |

We need to send a complaints to there headquarters. Maybe they do and recall and we stop paying $1500.00+ to get our trucks fixed. It sound like and manufactors error, because there are alot of people with these truck complaining about the SAMETHING. REAR-END WHINING NOISE!!! |

Chad Dodge Dakota JOIN HERE 12/26/2002 17:23:42 | RE: Rear end nose IP: Logged Message: I have a 2002 Dodge Dakota Sport 4x4 4.7L, the predecessor was a 1997 Dodge Dakota Sport 4x4 5.2L manual. The 1997 had 2 rear ends put in it. Other than that, I experienced no problems with it until about 92,000 mi, when my RF wheel bearings decided to let loose. I was about a 1/2 mile from the dealership and decided to trade it in on the 2002. BIG MISTAKE. Rear end noise that can be heard over a 1 in, 2 out, Flowmaster, possible bad seals in the power steering that sings to my neighbors as I go up the street, wind noise and air leaks in the door panels, loud servos in the tranny, door panels squeak with the speakers, seat belt squeaks and does not retract when you lean forward, brakes are horrible (have been adjusted twice), and when you let off the gas on a turn, the drive train catches up and whacks you in the back-side. Other than that, I have no complaints. Dodge just says thank you for your concern and please contact your dealer. What a bunch of hooey. I have a job to go to. The Dodge dealership told me it was normal and actually compared me to a soccer mom used to driving a mini-van. Anyone know any good class-action lemon-law attorneys? |

The part that burns me up is I also have a 75 full size with the same rear and I installed a used posi unit in it with used bearings and races (all looked fine), and set the back lash myself and I put 60.000 miles on it so far and it is quiet. As far as the 98 dak. I am sure the rear is as it left the factory or it may have been repared at some point at the dealer and with all the training they have they could'nt get it right. |
