Bernd GenIII 1/02/2001 10:28:51 | RE: 3.9 horsepower? IP: Logged Message: The Gen-III are rated at 175HP so I would assume that the Gen-I are in the 160HP range (Flywheel HP...not rear wheel.) Bernd D. Ratsch 1997 Dodge Dakota SLT Supercharged w/Nitrous |

Bernd Gen III 5/18/2001 08:44:06 | RE: 3.9 horsepower? IP: Logged Message: Actually, it's 175HP at the crank but subtract 20-25% for driveline loss (average is 22%). This puts the rearwheel HP at 136-140. For $500, hmmmm.... Home-Brew Intake System w/K&N Filter, Fastman TB, 180 T'Stat, Autolite 3923's, Accel Coil w/harness, and a Dynomax Super Turbo to replace your factory muffler. That'll get you about 10-12 more HP. - Bernd 1997 Dodge Dakota SLT - V6 Supercharged @ 10# |

Ryan Kane Dodge Dakota 5/23/2001 01:37:07 | RE: 3.9 horsepower? IP: Logged Message: Bernd, the early Gen I Dakota's have a measley 125 hp produced @max RPM's. I have the original sales brochures to confirm this. I plan on getting my 1989 Dakota 3.9L dyno tested sometime soon to see what I'm getting. I have a K&N open air element, Jacobs Omni Torquer ignition, JET stage II chip, 91 octane, Mopar headers, 2.5" custom exhaust, Borla straight through muffler, no cat, K&N crankcase breather, disengaged smog pump. I'm hoping all of this combined will net me 40 more hp's on the dyno. But we shall see....
